Good afternoon families,
We had yet another short and successful week. If you have not sent over pictures from your ice day, please do! We have heard so many stories of our students playing in the ice, we would love to see it too! Looking ahead, we have Valentine’s day approaching. Please see below for some guidelines.
Valentine’s Day
On February 13th we will be exchanging Valentine’s. While it is not required to bring anything in, we welcome it. Please provide enough for each student if you are participating. Attached to this email is a class list and numbers. If you are sending in food/candy it must be storebought and individually wrapped/sealed. If you are bringing in trinkets, please keep the items small. We will have some bags to decorate for the students to collect Valentine’s. If you prefer, your child may decorate and bring in a shoebox/bag for the goodies. We are asking for some donations if you are able, please see the sign up genius. Ideas for the bags and sweethearts are linked below.

Good afternoon families,
Students jumped right into learning, even though it was a short week. We were able to learn about decimals, author’s purpose, context clues, and so much more! We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Starting next week, dismissal changes will be different. Please see below for more information.
Starting Monday, February 23, 2026, we will be using a system called PickUp Patrol to help us track dismissals. PickUp Patrol provides families with a convenient way to make changes to your child’s dismissal plans and helps ensure that students are accurately dismissed each day.
How It Works:
- Your child’s regular dismissal plan will be entered into the system. This is considered their Default Plan.
- Whenever your child is doing something other than their Default Plan, you’ll submit a Plan Change via PickUp Patrol.
- Examples of a Plan Change:
- Your child normally rides the bus but needs to switch to carpool for the day.
- Your child is getting picked up by someone other than yourself (must be an emergency contact in Infinite Campus).
- Your child has a doctor's appointment and will be leaving early.
- When the change is submitted, a notification will be sent to the front office and their teacher.
REGISTER: Today, Friday, February 20, 2026, you will receive a registration email from PickUp Patrol with a link to set up your account. The parent portal is free to parents and can be accessed from your phone or computer. The link in your registration email will be live for 48 hours. As soon as you receive it, please log in and confirm your child’s default plan.
Thank you for using PickUp Patrol to make safety a priority and to ensure our dismissal process is efficient for all! Parents can access all of their children in the same account as long as the same email address is used. Once you are registered you do not need to re-register for each child, you will simply log out and back in again to view all children in the app.
If you have any questions, please first check the PickUp Patrol Parent Guide & if you need additional assistance, please reach out to Mrs. Lorraine Robertson at Northwood's front desk, robertsonl1@fultonschools.org. Please note, starting Monday, the Northwood Dismissal email will no longer be utilized.

Good afternoon families,
We had an awesome week recognizing and celebrating Exceptional Children’s Week! Ask your student what fun activities we did each day. We closed out the week with a fun and interactive in-house field trip all about the food webs. Enjoy the beautiful weekend, we will see students back on Tuesday!
**Over the past few weeks, fourth grade teachers have noticed an increase in behaviors that make learning and working together more challenging. We are seeing students struggle with kindness toward peers, following directions the first time, showing respect to adults, and staying focused on their classwork.
As we move through this part of the school year, it’s common for students to need a reminder of expectations and how to be successful both socially and academically. We ask for your partnership in reinforcing respectful behavior, responsibility, and kindness at home. A quick conversation about the importance of listening, making good choices, and treating others well can make a big difference.
Thank you for your continued support as we help our fourth graders finish the year strong!**
The Student Success Skills Inventory is used to measure student growth across Student Success Skill standards taught by teachers. Students complete the inventory by indicating if they almost always, always, sometimes, or never apply the skills being taught in the areas of Self Awareness, Self-Management, Social Competence, Collaborative Problem Solving, Reflective Learning Strategies, and Sense of Belonging.
The SSS Inventory is about 15-20 items and administered to students in the Fall and Spring. It takes about 15 minutes to complete. Students complete the SSS Inventory using the Illuminate platform.

Good afternoon families,
What a great week in fourth grade! We kicked things off by wearing green and celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with fun, engaging, and educational activities that kept students excited and learning all week long. To make an even bigger impact, our school was proudly recognized as an AVID Showcase School! This achievement highlights our commitment to preparing students for success through strong academic skills, organization, goal setting, and collaboration. We are so proud of our students for their hard work and enthusiasm—it truly was a week full of learning, celebration, and success!

Good afternoon families,
Please be sure to read the entire weekly newsletter, as it is full of important information and updates that you won’t want to miss.
After a refreshing spring break, we’re back and ready to learn! Our focus now is continuing milestone review, giving students plenty of practice with key skills and strategies.
As we prepare for GMAS testing, please note that all student electronic devices will be collected each day of testing. While electronics typically remain powered off in backpacks during normal school days, we collect them during testing as an extra precaution. Any device that rings, vibrates, or is visible during testing can be disruptive and may potentially invalidate a student’s test. For this reason, it is best for electronic devices to be left at home during testing days.
Additionally, please remember that there will be no lunch visits during GMAS testing in order to maintain a quiet, secure testing environment for all students. Thank you for your support in helping our students do their best!

Reading (or listening!) to books is a great way to learn, relax, and build strong reading habits. We can’t wait to see how many books our students enjoy this spring!
Milestones Prep:
Students and families can access some amazing tools to help prepare for the assessment.
Gaexperienceonline.com is a resource that allows students to access a practice test. There is an orange documentation button that parents can click. This provides a 5-page paper on how to work the practice tests. There is also a blue tutorial button that shows a video version of the document.
Within this practice test they can learn the tools that Milestones allows. When you first click the green “test practice, guides, and samplers” button you will see a prompt to go to Online tools training. From there select “EOG” and you will see four tabs you can select. The teachers at Northwood utilize the teaching guide frequently to help students see what the test is like. Feel free to use this at home as well!
Don’t let this resource go to waste! It is a great tool to get your child(ren) ready for the Milestones Assessment!
Attached are the directions we give students at school to get into the study guide section.
Reminders
- If your child is absent from school, please email northwoodattendance@fultonschools.org (and copy me on it) to explain the reason for your child's absence.
- We have a new Cafeteria Manager! Please email Cristhal Austin with birthday ice cream requests. She needs a few days to make sure she has enough on order. Her email is austinc4@fultonschools.org.

Good afternoon families,
This week, students continued reviewing key skills and strategies as we prepare for Milestones testing. We are proud of their hard work and focus as they build confidence going into next week.
As Milestones testing begins next week, families can help set students up for success by keeping a few simple tips in mind:
- Make sure students get a good night’s sleep
- Provide a healthy breakfast each morning
- Ensure students arrive on time
- Offer encouragement and reassurance—a calm mindset goes a long way!
We are still in need of snack donations! Please send these in by Wednesday. We thank you and appreciate you!
